Voxel founders, Aaron and Zach, met as engineering students at the University of Michigan, where they shared an interest in additive manufacturing. They understood the game-changing capabilities of the process but also understood that the complexity of additive designs put these capabilities out of reach of most engineers. A better design tool was needed.
So, as students they began working on that tool – an AI based software that enabled engineers to determine the performance requirements then let the software propose a design that met those requirements. They continued working on the software tool and finally built a successful proof of concept.
Through ongoing consulting engagements, the founders learned that by applying this proprietary software, innovative products could be designed in less time. In 2023 Voxel assembled a founding team and received initial funding from Cincy Tech, a Cincinnati based VC, and additional funding from Centrifuge and other private investors. Today, Voxel occupies a facility in Blue Ash, Ohio, equipped with both polymer and metal printers and a sophisticated testing lab.
